Yemeni Houthis Attacked on Israel

A siren sounds in Tel Aviv, Israel on Sunday morning after which most of the people shifted to safer places. The main reason for this siren was the missile attack on Israel by Yemen’s Houthis. The Yemeni Houthis fired surface-to-surface missiles at Israel on Sunday morning.

The Israeli army says that there were no casualties. Because the missile landed in an open unpopulated area in east-central Israel. It should be remembered that the Yemeni Houthis are following in the footsteps of Iran and Hezbollah.

The deputy spokesman of the Houthis, Nasruldin Amir, says that this attack is just the beginning. The Houthis have carried out similar attacks on Israel before. One of these attacks was a drone attack on Israel in July Which injured four people including the death of one person. Israel killed at least 80 people in Yemen in a counter-attack.

They have also indicated to carry out more attacks in the future. These actions of the Yemeni Houthis are worsening the already bad situation in the region Especially Iran and Hizbollah will help to further increase the ongoing tension with Israel.

Who are Houthis?

The Yemeni Houthis, formally known as Ansar Allah, are a political and armed movement originating from northern Yemen. Established in the 1990s, the group emerged amidst growing disenchantment among the Zaydi Shia community in Yemen.

Their name derives from their founder, Hussein Badreddin al-Houthi, who played a significant role in catalyzing their rise. The movement initially focused on cultural revival but soon evolved into a wider socio-political force.

Why are they doing these attacks?

More than 41,000 people have been killed in Israel’s war in Gaza since October 2023.Most of them are women and children. In response to Israel’s cruelty, the Houthis launched attacks on Israel. It should be remembered that not only the Houthis, but also the Lebanese militant group Hezbollah has launched missile attacks on Israel in solidarity with Palestine.
